James Metz II
I am a 1994 graduate of Michigan State University where I was also
a member of the Delta Sigma Phi Fraternity.
​
I went on to receive my Juris Doctorate degree (law degree) in 1997
from Michigan State University Law School.
​
I started my career in law as a law clerk for the honorable Michael
K. Hegarty in the 53rd District Court, Livingston County.
​
In May of 2000, I became an Assistant Prosecutor/Senior Trial Attorney for the Livingston County Prosecutor's Office.
​
I left the Prosecutor's office in January 2010 to become an Assistant
Attorney General for the State of Michigan.
​
Having spent my entire legal career since May 2000 as an attorney practicing criminal law, I have extensive knowledge as relates to the criminal justice system with over 21 years of experience and countless hours in the courtroom as a trial attorney.
​
I am married with six children and four grandchildren (and counting).
